Everyone Zumba!
Jennifer decided to take a Zumba class at the Alvin Ailey dance center. She had wanted to take it since last week but her daughter got sick. It took Jennifer about an hour and 25 minutes to get to class because of bumper to bumper traffic but she made it in time. When Jennifer arrived at the class, she was relieved to see that she was not the oldest person or the youngest person in the room.  Once the class ended, Jennifer went to the locker room and felt like a loser because the room was filled with high school girls who were dancers. One thing Jennifer did like about being in the locker room was that she got to listen to what the girls were talking about which she found interesting. They talked about dating, who they had a crush on and who they were “banging.”  Jennifer found the girls to be so adorable and sweet. She quietly sat, curled her hair and used some baby wipes to wash up. Then she waited for them to leave so she could change.  Jennifer thinks that going to the Zumba class was a really good stepping stone for her because she thinks she has finally worked up the courage to enroll in a hip hop class she has had her eye on.

Returns
Alexis when to Sax 5th Avenue today to try and return a blouse she had bought awhile ago.  The shirt was too small for her and she decided it’s just not her style. When Alexis went to take the blouse back to the store she was told that she could not return it. Alexis thinks she did the right thing by not telling them A. she knew full well that they were about to go out of business, B. that was not going to be a sad thing, C. she would never spend another dime there again, D. “you know who I am and who my mother is?” and E. why don’t you go screw yourselves. Jennifer thinks she handled the whole situation incorrectly. She should have just called and said,  “Hi, this is Alexis Stewart calling...” then mention something about her account and/or the radio show. Basically, she should of spoke with a manger and made sure they knew who she was. Hopefully then they would have taken the shirt back because they can take anything back if they really want to. John works at a high end department store and says if he really wanted to take a return from a customer he could.  Jenn called to say that she agrees with Jennifer, because if you can have something done for you because of your name, you should do it. Alexis pays full price for everything and won’t work angles.

A tearful lunch

Jennifer went to a restaurant for lunch today on 59th street to a place where they serve rice, noodles, etc. While there, Jennifer looked at something on her Blackberry and it made her sad then she started to cry. This nice girl who Jennifer thinks is the owner of the restaurant asked her what was wrong and then the woman asked Jennifer what her favorite color was.  Jennifer said pink (of course), so the women gave her a set of pink chopsticks.  After all that she asked if she could hug Jennifer.  Oddly enough Jennifer said sure but she gave her the one arm hug. Alexis thinks she would have just backed up. Everyone in the studio thought that was odd. Alexis said she would never cry in a restaurant because no one wants to hear crying during a meal. Alexis confessed she could and has cried in the street, though.

Get that iPod out of here!

Jennifer found out that Bill Gates won’t allow his wife or children to own an iPod or iPhone which Jennifer thinks is crazy. Alexis thinks it makes sense because Bill probably provides his family with an alternative to the iPod - the Zune. Alexis thinks if her mother was in the same situation and she was the inventor of the Zune she would not allow an iPod in the home. Susan thinks Bill Gates is a hypocrite because Bill puts money into Mac development.  Kim called to say that she is a fan of the Zune her husband purchased for her. She thinks the Zune is a good choice because she already had a Microsoft computer and she likes that fact that the Zune will take all of her mp3s off her computer.  Kim thinks Bill is right in not allowing apple products and she’s about to do the same in her home. Kelly also thinks that Bill is right because if you’re going to have brand loyalty, it should begin in the home.

Another annoying email

Alexis received an email from the guy who recently bothered her about the name of a chef that they both know. He has a restaurant based in Chicago. Once Alexis found out that the email was a forward she did not even look at it. She replied by saying, “Here’s the thing - I don’t have the time, energy or interest to read forwards. Could you take me off your list?”  It took almost all day to get a response that said, “Oh I get it, sorry.”  Jennifer is not sure he got the point that Alexis has no desire to speak with him anymore. Alexis says if she receives an email from him again she will send him something even nastier.

The big egg - AKA the emu egg

Alexis asked Paulie if he would consider eating an emu egg if she broke it in a blender. Paulie says if she can prove it’s safe and he won’t get sick he will do it. Jennifer thinks he should eat the egg towards the end of the show so that if he gets sick he could leave right after the show and no one will have to help him.  FYI, one emu egg is the equivalent of about 8 – 12 chicken eggs, about 55% white and 45% yoke. They are available seasonally and one egg makes an omelet for about 10 people! Yum!

Fame
, evidently, WILL live forever

Jennifer found out the motion picture Fame is going to be remade.  Both Alexis and Jennifer loved the original movie, however Jennifer thinks the new version will be too happy. She said the original movie had its low points in it and that’s what made it good!

Thanks for listening!
