They’re baaaack
The girls had been off shooting Whatever Martha! and ended up receiving donkey name suggestions via email because there was a replay of a show where Alexis was talking about naming Martha’s donkeys. Alexis wished repeats were preceded by an announcement saying the show was a repeat!!
Weekend goings on
Paulie saw the fireworks from NJ and he was proud to admit that he liked fireworks. Alexis said they were fine in the background but they always went on for too long and the finale was never good enough. She said fireworks were designed by people with no taste. Alexis had a drunken lunch and ended up sleeping through all of the Fourth festivities. Jennifer took the redeye back from L.A. last night. She thought the man next to her was going to kill her so she overmedicated. She also started talking to a guy who was carrying a skateboard because she thought he would be a good match for Alexis. It turned out that he was married, though. She enjoyed that the safety speech on the plane was a tad humorous. She was also happy that she could order things from a TV screen.
Hi Derek!
Derek Hartley from Sirius OutQ was in the studio with a new hairstyle. It was spiky and gray. His mother was there for the holiday weekend and they hung out at the house, went to Long Island and then went to 6 Flags because his mom loved rollercoasters. He had executive access at the park so it wasn’t an annoying experience. The girls and Derek discussed how often people contacted their mothers. Derek said he generally talked to his mom every few months. Jennifer thought that was a long time and didn’t understand how they didn’t email every day. Derek said his mom was cool with him only talking to her every few months. Derek had a friend that talked to his mom every Sunday and they were always fighting about something so he thought that a pleasant conversation every couple of months was a much better situation. Alexis said if his mom was really okay with it, it was cool. Derek’s mom was a Doulla – something between an obstetrician and a midwife. The conversation turned to Derek’s love life. Derek was currently single and dating. Jennifer asked if he would date a listener. Derek said he had a 3-year relationship with a listener. Jennifer didn’t think men and women could really be friends. Alexis thought they could because even if one was interested in the other it didn’t have to go there.
Hot dog eating competition
The usual winner didn’t compete this year. The girls wondered what happened to the hot dogs inside of you. They wondered what happened to your body when you ate that many calories at once. Dr. Marc Seigel, the medical director of Dr. radio. The doctor said one hot dog had almost as much salt as a person needed in a single day. He said that a person wouldn’t absorb that many calories if he or sheet ate something that quickly. Alexis asked if he would ever eat a hot dog from the street. He said he would not.
To grandmother’s house we go
Jennifer wondered if people gave their parents rules for when they watched their kids. Alexis said that if the grandparents spanked the kids, it would make the kids love their parents more. Jennifer would freak out if her mother-in-law spanked her kid. Lee had been a grandparent for 15 years and she never listened to what her grandkids’ parents said. Alexis said maybe grandparents should respect what parents want for their kids. Jennifer said part of the fun of going to other people’s houses was that different rules applied. Alexis didn’t think you should sit kids in front of a TV and feed them Kool Aid when you were watching them. Jennifer said some people liked to give their grandkids little treats. Alexis said it sounded like a lot of people were just giving kids what they wanted because it made it easier for them to take care of said kids. She said there were other ways to treat kids besides sugary drinks and the like. Barbara had the opposite problem. Her daughter-in-law brought the bad things to her house.
Lindsay Lohan
She was found guilty of violating her probation and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab. Alexis didn’t think Lindsay really cared and she probably liked the attention.
