Temperature issues

The girls complained about the temperature in the building. There was no method to the madness. It was freezing cold at the moment.

Scaredy cat
Alexis’s seemingly tough yoga instructor was afraid when he was on her balcony. Jennifer didn’t have a fear of heights. Some people couldn’t even walk down the hallway in Alexis’s apartment when the blinds were up because they were scared. Alexis didn’t get it. Her yoga instructor also thought he was having a heart attack recently. He actually called 911 and the EMTs said he was fine, he just had too much caffeine. Jennifer understood it when people freaked out. Alexis thought he was a bit of a pussy. Alexis couldn’t think of anything she was really afraid of except for maybe very deep water.

Parenting

Jennifer Senior, a contributor editor at New York Magazine, and author of the recent cover story "All Joy and No Fun, Why Parents Hate Parenting," was on the show. Jennifer K. said that when the kids were 9-12, parenting was easier because kids were not as needy and were not belligerent yet. Alexis said parents today were able to admit that they didn’t love parenting all the time but her parents generation would never admit such a thing. Jennifer K. and Jennifer S. agreed that there were parents that loved their kids but still hated parenting. Jennifer discussed friends of hers that didn’t have children but never talked about it being a conscious choice because they were ashamed or something. There was a theory that people who had kids later were less happy because they could see a difference between their life before and their life after children. Jennifer K. didn’t think anyone was prepared for the kind of anxiety that came with having a child. Jennifer S. said that kids always loved you less than you loved them.

Razor talk

Alexis read an article in the Wall Street Journal about how people were obsessed with their old razors. Alexis barely shaved her legs anymore because there were other methods of hair removal. She was never a good shaver but she used to use the perfectly nice 2-blade men’s razors. She hated the Mach 3. Jennifer had tried the Venus vibrating razor and didn’t like it. She loved the Intuition razor because of the soap. Alexis hated it because it was ugly and the soap smelled gross. Paulie said it was more about the quality of shaving cream he was using. Michael used an electric razor.

Going gray

The girls discussed going gray. Jennifer said you shouldn’t give up. Look as good as you can for as long as you can. If you look good gray, that’s one thing. If not, keep maintaining the color. Alexis said if you had nice silver gray hair to work with that was great but not many people looked good with gray hair. You just look younger when you don’t have gray hair. Callers were split on the issue.

Mel Gibson

All the ladies on The View were talking about him today and a few were saying that people should forgive him for his rants. Alexis said that Elisabeth Hasselback hated Jews and black people so of course she supported Mel. Whoopi commented that drunks often said stupid things to people all the time. Joy said a lot of people drank and didn’t say those things. Whoopi said she should’ve taken her beef to the cops, why make it public? She also added that she knew Mel and knew he wasn’t a racist. Jennifer said you could have a friend who was gay and still be anti-gay. The girls wondered if alcohol was really a truth serum? Paulie thought that if someone said something drunk they might definitely say it sober. Whoopi was supporting Mel Gibson because they were friends. One caller said the root of everything was that he hated women. Alexis thought the root was that he was just incredibly unhappy. Paulie hated that Whoopi was sticking up for Mel.

Miley Cyrus

Her popularity may be dropping a bit. Jennifer explained who Miley Cyrus was to Alexis. She started doing Hannah Montana at 11 or 12 years old and the show ended this year. She was now changing her image and some people weren’t liking it. Jennifer didn’t understand it…people grow up!
