Take that, Producer Dan

Jennifer took a random phone call for sport and to annoy producer Dan. Caller Wendy was unemployed, middle-aged and restless. She wondered what she should be doing with her life. Jennifer told her she was probably calling in to speak to Maggie Mistal but she got Alexis and Jennifer. Wendy spoke to the girls anyway. She said she wanted to go back to school to learn sign language. Jennifer thought it was amazing that Wendy wanted to do such a thing. Alexis said she should definitely go back to school for that. Jennifer noted that if she (Jennifer) wanted to practice law, she could. Alexis said maybe she technically could, but could she get a job? Alexis said SHE wouldn’t hire Jennifer. Jennifer didn’t think it would be easy but she thought if she tried hard enough she could get it done. In any case, she didn’t want to be a lawyer.

Britain’s Got Talent

A woman was suing Simon Cowell for humiliation. She wanted 2.5 million pounds. She was also suing the TV show because she said they were guilty of discrimination – something about the placement of a microphone and the woman’s height. She was also suing for over a million dollars in lost wages. Alexis didn’t understand any of it. Paulie played a clip of the woman singing. She was horrible. Jennifer said if you were going to try out for one of these shows and you had anyone in your life that really cared about you they should tell you that you suck before you humiliate yourself.

Dogs in restaurants?

The girls discussed whether dogs should be allowed in restaurants. Alexis joked that it depended on the dog and then seriously said that no, she didn’t think they should, but she did think they should be allowed in the grocery store. In a restaurant, there might be trouble because there was no guarantee that the dog would behave itself and it put restaurant owners in an awkward position. Stephanie believed dogs should only be allowed in restaurants that had outdoor seating. Alexis thought it should be up to the owner because if it was a small neighborhood café it shouldn’t be a health department issue. After all, people could be dirtier than dogs.

Divorce

Is it catching? If someone in your life gets divorced are you more inclined to get divorced? Jennifer did believe that if there was something you were afraid to do in your life and it was lurking, you might be empowered to do it if you saw someone close to you doing it. There had to be existent rumblings, however.

What’s your problem?

Rick had a crush on a guy who worked at a salon. The girls said he should just give the guy his card and see what happened. Ann Marie had issues with losing her 13-year-old stepson because his mother was back in town. Jennifer thought kids had a tremendous capacity to love and if she had a strong relationship with her stepson, his mother being there was only going to make life sweeter for him. Jennifer had a friend who was friends with a couple in their late 40s/early 50s. The man had never introduced the woman to his parents. They didn’t even know she existed. He didn’t have a super close relationship with his parents. He hung out with her parents, though. Jennifer wondered what was up with this. The woman wanted to meet his parents. Alexis said maybe he hated his parents and she should just deal with it. Karen’s husband owed $70,000 in child support. They had been in court for about a year and a half. He was lying to the court and saying he was disabled and working on a commission-only basis. Alexis said the woman should get the IRS involved.  Jennifer told her to look into Legal Aid because they were set up to deal with things like this. Karen was adopted and called in to discuss contacting her birth mother. Jennifer said if she wanted to reach out to her, she should, but she should respect her decision to give her up for adoption. She thought she should send her a letter. Karen found her biological mother on Facebook. Jennifer said she should send her a private message on Facebook.
