Ugh
Alexis had to have coffee from the office machine today and she also had to talk to someone she didn’t want to talk to. The coffee was offensive to Alexis. Additionally, Jennifer had to talk to someone in the studio before the show. Alexis was disgusted.
Disapproval
Alexis was walking down the street the other day and there was an overweight woman in front of her and on the top of the woman’s back, just below her neck was a tattoo that said “Mildred.” Alexis and Jennifer agreed that you just do not do that.
Family Matters?
Alexis’s estranged dad sent her a postcard. Jennifer wanted to see it. Alexis said she didn’t read the whole thing and promptly threw it in the trash. Jennifer was full of hatred towards Alexis because she wanted to read the postcard. All Alexis saw was something about enough time passing and her father thought they should talk again. Jennifer said that Alexis’s father should write Jennifer on Facebook. Alexis said she would like Jennifer to write to her father: “Aren’t you dead yet, dad?”
Inception
Jennifer said the movie Inception was annoying and it gave her a headache. Alexis said many of the reviews of the movie were not good and added that Leo DiCaprio was not aging well. Steven, their smartypants listener was on the line to discuss the movie. Alexis and Jennifer explained the premise. Alexis said Ellen Page should not be in a movie like Inception. In the movie, Leo was sent to plant an original idea in someone’s mind. Dreams collided and you couldn’t bring real memories into your dream or everything got crazy. Steven thought the movie was very original and had a creative premise. Jennifer thought it was very Matrix-like and didn’t think Alexis was going to buy into the movie.
Chelsea Clinton is getting married
How much is too much money to spend on a wedding? Clinton’s wedding was supposedly going to cost something like two million dollars. Alexis didn’t know where they were getting that number from. Jennifer said it was all conjecture and wondered what people would think if it was true. So what if she spent a ton of money!? Alexis didn’t care what people spent unless they couldn’t afford it. She didn’t like when it felt like a waste.
Really?
Alexis’s car was not easy to drive and she knew this. She had called her garage Saturday afternoon to say she needed the car at 5:45am on Sunday morning. Her car was nowhere in sight when she arrived so she rang the bell for a long time. Finally a guy came down and she pointed to the chalkboard that had her car number written on it and the time it was supposed to be ready. He came down with a different car in the elevator and then asked her to come up with him. She then had to get her car herself!
Confessions of a Prairie Bitch
Alison Arngrim, the woman who played Nellie Oleson on Little House on the Prairie, called into the show. She wrote a book called Confessions Of A Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson And Learned To Love Being Hated. Jennifer Alison’s character was such an important part of the show. Apparently Melissa Sue Anderson was a total biatch. Alison said her older brother molested her and she got bullied all the time. Then she got the role of Nellie Oleson and things changed - everyone became afraid of her. She said overall the cast felt like family and she and Melissa Gilbert were still good friends.
Ding dong, ditch
The girls discussed the kid who was tackled by a homeowner after ringing the guy’s doorbell and running away. Alexis didn’t have a problem with the tackle. A listener named Kenny said when you lived in a neighborhood you were a neighbor and kids knew who the assholes on the street were. He thought it was weird that Alexis the ‘rebel’ had a problem with it and said that she must’ve been a target before.
Crime and punishment
The parents of a boy in Ohio who stole $20 headphones from a store made him stand outside the store wearing a sandwich board that said what he did. Jennifer didn’t think they had to shame him to punish him. Alexis didn’t think it was necessarily a bad idea. Paulie didn’t have a huge problem with this type of punishment. He thought kids needed to be taught more lessons and given consequences for their actions. This morphed into a conversation about 14-year-olds hanging out on their own. Jennifer and Alexis didn’t have a problem with it.
Lazy
Alexis read some recently published stats that concluded that Louisiana was the laziest state. Alexis said people shouldn’t wonder why America falls behind. Jennifer noted that people had many distractions in the workplace.
